- A call handling interface appears to be coming to the Android version of the “Google Wallet” app.
- Analysis of the in-app code in the “Google Wallet” for Android v26.2.855331965 update has confirmed the addition of text resources for displaying call status and performing operations.
- It is expected that if an incoming call is answered or “Call Screening” is used while operating the “Google Wallet” app, the app will remain on screen instead of switching to a full-screen call interface.
An incoming call notification (call_notification) interface appears to be implemented in the Android version of “Google Wallet,” Google’s mobile wallet management service.
Following an analysis of the in-app code from the “Google Wallet” for Android v26.2.855331965 update, which was distributed around Tuesday, January 20, 2026, new text resources for status display and call operations have been confirmed.
<string name="call_notification_answer_action">Answer</string>
<string name="call_notification_answer_video_action">Video</string>
<string name="call_notification_decline_action">Decline</string>
<string name="call_notification_hang_up_action">Hang Up</string>
<string name="call_notification_incoming_text">Incoming call</string>
<string name="call_notification_ongoing_text">Ongoing call</string>
<string name="call_notification_screening_text">Screening an incoming call</string>
<string name="call_notification_answer_action">応答</string>
<string name="call_notification_answer_video_action">ビデオ</string>
<string name="call_notification_decline_action">拒否</string>
<string name="call_notification_hang_up_action">通話終了</string>
<string name="call_notification_incoming_text">着信</string>
<string name="call_notification_ongoing_text">通話中</string>
<string name="call_notification_screening_text">着信をスクリーニング中</string>
Based on these new text resources for call status and operations added to the Android version of “Google Wallet,” it is expected that the device will not switch to a full-screen call UI when an incoming call is answered or “Call Screening” is initiated while the app is in use. Instead, the Google Wallet app will remain visible. For instance, if a call comes in while you are making a contactless payment at a register, you would be able to answer the call or run “Call Screening” through a pop-up notification without interrupting the transaction, allowing you to handle the call while keeping the Google Wallet app on screen.
As of now, this call handling interface has not yet been rolled out in the “Google Wallet” app for Android, but it is expected to be officially released as development continues.
